21st Century Pop Song - Hymie’s Basement

Why? played this song as their final encore tonight and it made me very happy indeed.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *deep breath* HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

they did this in new york as well.  epic.

santacon NYC 2009.

Me: So can you give me a summary of what this is besides i get to see you guys? and we get drunk in santa suits? or is that it?

Chris: WE meet up, don santa suits and meet up with at least a thousand other santas somewhere in NYC.  Then we hit a bunch of different spots for hangouts and photo ops. Along the way we hit several bar stop type things, but almost everyone is packing flasks because those bars get fucking full. the whole thing usually ends at a big dance party. last year it was at Santo’s.

You kind of become a tourist event, people want to meet you and take your picture. you make friends with other santas and look at girls in skimpy santa clothes.

Also, there is a giant group sex pile.

Me: SOLD!

#27 “When There’s A Will, There’s A Whalebone” by Islands featuring Subtitle & Busdriver

I remember seeing Islands in May of 2006 and just being blown away by their show at the El Rey. For their encore, Nicholas Thorburn lead the audience out of the venue with his guitar, performed sitting in a planter and then lit off a couple of fire crackers before the fire department shut him down. When Islands performed this song, every underground rapper in Los Angeles appeared on stage, freestyled and then did a stage dive. It was an amazing night to say the least.

Original review of the show from the old blog.

Love this.  I’ve seen Islands recently and the rapping portion of the song was just replaced by a jam.  still a killer song.

Sigur Ros - Svefn G Englar

Sometimes I forget just how spectacularly beautiful this song/album is. It’s good to be reminded.

Note: I get a mental image of slipping down some deep blue river in Iceland in a small boat, passing into an ice cavern forming some kind of glacial cathedral. There’s almost nothing in my life that I enjoy more than music that evokes dream imagery for me, so this is in the all-time list.

BRMC to ‘Beat the Devil’s Tattoo’ in March 2010; Tour Announced | Sentimentalist Magazine

not only is this fucking awesome. but it only seems right that leah (the old raveonettes drummer) is now the full time BRMC drummer.  i saw her with the raves 2 years ago during the lustlustlust tour and she was bad ass and all the things that fit quite nicely in the whole BRMC scheme of things.
cheers.
